Professional Development Session Four: Lesson Plan and Associated Technology Tools
PD Session Four: Construct ~ In this session PD Participants will think about how they will construct a unit, of which they can then use for their own students, which is student-centered and will also take consideration of how the teacher will allow connections with individual student PLP's, thread technology throughout to ensure that students are intrinsically motivated to learn, differentiate student learning opportunities, and ultimately upgrade their curriculum. The unit will incorporate technology, as suggested in each of the six PD lessons and associated with each of the following steps of the inquiry process, transforming learning and providing students the opportunities to:

The TECHNOLOGY TOOLS below can be used for BOTH the second and fourth stages of the inquiry process:
Mind Mapping is a visual way to organize your thoughts and ideas. Start with your main idea, or a specific career that a student may want to pursue, in the middle. Then add pertinent thoughts and ideas, from the answers to your questions, about how you can connect your content area to student PLP's, by creating branches that extend out from the main idea. Next, repeat the process, by adding more thoughts and ideas and extend them out from each of your sub-topics . Continue the process, until you feel you have enough information and that you can now make your own predictions to begin your unit.

- Connect (Gain background knowledge and connect to prior knowledge)
- Wonder (Develop questions, make predictions, and hypothesize)
- Investigate (Access information, evaluate it, test hypothesis, think about new questions and hypotheses)
- Construct (organize ideas and synthesize, form hypotheses and draw conclusions)
- Express (knowledge) & share
- Reflect
- Please use the Technology Tools below to construct (organize ideas and synthesize, form hypotheses and draw conclusions) your student-centered unit.
- Please view this video to help you differentiate your lessons using Howard Garner's Multiple Intelligences Theory.
- Please post two questions you have for the discussion board this week here and comment on the remarks from two of your colleagues.

- Google Chrome Mindmapping Apps
- This Venn Diagram tool is a mind map that you can use to organize your thoughts visually and help you think critically about the information for your project. It will enable you to make connections, which are important as you develop your ideas and then eventually synthesize your information.
- This link will provide information on fifteen suggested mind-mapping tools for you.
- Watch this video to learn how to create a mind-map.
